Exceeding Expectations
When its current accounting package no longer met expectations, Compassion in World Farming's Finance Manager Rob Foord was seeking identify a solution that would enable the organisation to effectively manage its financial resources.
"We wanted an accounts system designed around what we needed, rather than having to design our procedures around the package" comments Rob. "We were looking for an easy to use application with specific extras such as on-line authorisations, greater coding capacity, easy integration with Microsoft Excel and self-tailoring security."
The organisation assessed three financial management solutions on the market including IRIS Exchequer. Rob continues, "We really wanted to eliminate paperwork as much as possible, be able to devolve and delegate our procedures in areas such as purchase ledger and provide management with at-a-glance expenditure figures. IRIS Exchequer is now used everyday by the whole organisation."
Closer Links With Suppliers
As a charity, Compassion in World Farming doesn't have a large sales ledger, so Rob and his team's work focuses on the Purchase Ledger. All departments have to enter their own invoices, giving them a closer link to their suppliers. Budget holders are able to authorise expenditure up to their authorisation limits via Microsoft Outlook and can view, at a glance, up to date expenditure figures for their cost centres.
As well as using IRIS Exchequer Financials v5.71, Compassion in World Farming have additional modules including Paperless. By taking advantage of the latest technologies, Exchequer's Paperless module enables Rob and his team to send out documents and reports in a secure read-only format, by fax or email at the touch of a button. This improves customer service immensely and offers more effective credit control.
